Course Outline
Our Medication Management training course provides learners with a solid foundation in understanding medication and its safe administration. Our experienced trainers will guide you through the various types of medications, and ways in which medication can be administered along with the signs of allergic reactions and their responses, and how to promote independence in medication management.
You will explore the importance of procedures for safe administration, storage and disposal as well as the correct use of Medication Administration Record (MAR) sheets with hands-on examples to ensure you’re confidently able to accurately document medication administration.
This course meets NICE guidelines and aligns to NICE Quality Standards for “Managing Medicines safely and effectively in Care Homes” and “Managing Medicines for People receiving Social Care in the Community” (endorsed by the Department of Health and Social Care as required by the Health and Social Care Act 2012) and aligns with areas of CQC guidance and regulations: Standard 4 “Proper and Safe Use of Medicines”
- Introduction to medication and routes of administration​
- Promote independence by supporting a person to look after their own medication when possible​
- Follow procedures set for safe administration, storage and disposal of medication​
- Correctly use a Medication Administration Record (MAR) sheet​
- Respond appropriately to allergic reactions​
