Course Outline
Our “Safeguarding Children” Course equips learners with essential knowledge and skills to ensure children’s safety and well-being with our experienced trainers leading interactive and informative sessions to ensure an understanding of how child protection principles, legislation, and modern challenges like online environments is crucial.
Topics include child protection principles, relevant legislation, government guidance, identifying child abuse, domestic violence impact, communication barriers, children’s rights, responding to abuse reports, and online safety. This comprehensive course combines theory with practical scenarios, empowering participants to create safer environments and foster a culture of child safeguarding.
- Recognise potential indicators of child maltreatment – physical, emotional, sexual abuse and neglect including radicalisation, child trafficking and female genital mutilation (FGM)​
- Detail the impact a parent/carer’s physical and mental health can have on the wellbeing of a child or young person, including the impact of domestic violence
- Describe the importance of children’s rights in the safeguarding/child protection ​context
- Explain what action to take if you have concerns, including to whom you should report your concerns and from whom to seek advice
- List the risks associated with the internet and online social networking​
- Detail the basic legislation (Sexual Offences Act 2003, Children Acts 1989 and 2004)
