2. Basic life support and first aid
3. Communication
4. Dignity
5. Equality and Diversity
6. Fire Safety
7. Food Hygiene
8. Health and Safety Awareness
9. Infection Prevention and Control
10. Medication Management
11. Mental Capacity and Liberty Safeguards
12. Moving and Handling Objects
13. Nutrition and Hydration
14. Oral Health
15. Person-Centred Care
16. Positive Behaviour Support and Non-Restrictive Practice
17. Recording and Reporting

20. Specific Conditions

These learning outcomes are mapped to the new Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate.

Care staff not only need induction when starting their career but also need to refresh their knowledge on these topics as defined by Skills for Care.

Why should you refresh Core & Mandatory Training?

Refreshing learning on these core and mandatory topics not only develops the skills of your workforce but also provides several benefits:

1. Staff must stay up to date with current legislation and best practices.
2. Refreshed learning helps put training into practice.
3. It prepares your workforce for future challenges.
4. New equipment, changes in environment, or new clients can introduce new risks, and training helps manage these effectively.

As mentioned, some training must be refreshed as recommended by Skills for Care at specific intervals. Check here.

Monitoring care staff’s competency and gathering feedback ensures they continue to demonstrate essential skills for their roles.

Who Needs Core & Mandatory Training?

To maintain consistent care standards, Skills for Care recommends specific core and mandatory training for certain roles. However, some courses are recommended for all care employees.

For our Core & Mandatory Training Courses, we suggest suitable attendees for each course. If you need help with training plans, get in touch, and we can tailor training to your needs.
