Nominated Individual Handbook
Caroline Coleman, our CEO, was a Trustee for a charity which ran a care home. During her time in that role, she identified a real lack of understanding of the role of the nominated individual, both by staff and by the NI themselves.
This book, commissioned by Skills for Care, is a deep dive into the role of the nominated individual. It begins with a Quick Start chapter for those in a hurry, followed by an in-depth exploration of the key responsibilities of the Nominated Individual, including their role as contact between CQC and the organisation, support for the registered manager and role as “critical friend”, governance and much more. Since around half of nominated individuals are also registered managers, it offers suggestions in each chapter to help navigate the dual role effectively.
